Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a £98,000 watch from a man on Hale Road – and police believe three similar robberies in Hale are linked.
We reported on Friday how two men threatened a man with a socket wrench on Hale Road and demanded he hand over his watch – an Audemars Piguet rose gold skeleton watch valued at around £98,000 – before fleeing in a car.
Police have now arrested a man aged 25 and a boy aged 17 on suspicion of robbery.
And three further high-value watch robberies, committed in similar circumstances in recent days in Hale, are being treated as linked.
The first happened shortly after 3pm on Friday, when two watches – a Rolex Oyster with a white face and gold band in the middle of the bracelet, valued at £6,000 and a Tag Heuer sports watch in silver valued at £3,000 – were stolen from a man, 63, and woman, 60, who were walking along the passageway between Cambridge Road and Ollerbarrow Road in Hale.
And then on Saturday, at around 3.30pm, a Rolex watch worth £20,000 was stolen from a 62-year-old man as he walked along Bower Road.
During that robbery, the man received injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
Detective Sergeant Helen Bagnall, of GMP’s Trafford District, said: “While we have made two arrests as part of our investigations, our enquiries remain ongoing.
