A man has been taken to hospital after falling from Hale Road bridge.
At around 10.20 this morning there was a significant emergency response following reports of a “casualty on the tracks”.
Both officers from British Transport Police and paramedics from North West Ambulance Service attended the scene, and an emergency helicopter also landed close by in Stamford Park.
A man was taken to hospital where he remains in an unknown condition. The incident is not thought to be suspicious.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Hale station at 10.20am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and a man has been taken to hospital. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added: “We have responded to an incident where a patient has fallen from a railway bridge to the tracks below.
An ambulance, helimed crew, response vehicle and HART [hazardous area response team] all assisted with the response. The man received treatment and was taken to hospital.”
The incident caused the trainline between Altrincham and Northwich to be suspended for around an hour and a half.
National Rail confirmed at 12.58pm that trains were “running normally”.
