Here’s an exclusive first look inside the new Hale Library, which is set to open in the village’s new community centre next month.

The new 3,000 sq ft library is located on the first floor of the new building and looks out over the bowling green.

The ground floor provides accommodation for Hale Bowling Club, along with community facilities including new public toilets and a café.

The scheme, which is being contructed by Westshield, is being funded by the sale of the old library site on Leigh Road and Addison Road.

Plans for the whole centre were approved by Trafford Council in 2019 and represents the culmination of a near nine-year campaign by Hale Community Trust to ensure the continuation of library facilities in Hale.

The scheme had overwhelming support from the local community, with just six letters of objection produced during the public consultation process, against 154 in favour.

It’s hoped the new facility will be open to the public next month.
