Cactus + Coffee is taking over the former King Pong unit in the sheltered courtyard.

It will specialise in cactii and succulent plants while also stocking outdoor plants, cut flowers, home and gift items.

Outside there will be an extensive outdoor terrace where visitors can enjoy hot and cold sandwiches, seasonal soups, cakes and artisan coffee.

Behind the new launch is 24-year-old Jessica Goddard, from Wythenshawe. She said: “It’s a fantastic location and we’re hoping to help to turn Goose Green back to how it used to be.

“It’ll be a feelgood place and it’s a suntrap here, so will be a perfect place to retreat to on a nice day.

“We’re open for anyone from families to coworkers and are looking forward to seeing people here from this weekend.”

Manager Carlos Carriera is looking after the food and coffee side of the new opening.

He added: “We hope by offering a seat amongst the plants you’ll get a feel for them and which you like. Pair this with a sandwich, nutritional soup and a proper barista coffee – you’ll feel calm and comfortable.

“We’re an everyday spot for lunch, as well as a place to a get a reasonably priced Aloe Vera. We also have seating inside at the back, ideal for meetings or solo workers.”

Cactus + Coffee is also calling on local independent businesses to sell their products in the shop.

Proprietor James Gill said: “Were all about collaboration – plants improve us, we nurture them, plus we’d love to sell things for local growers and makers too.”

The plants will help to create a “feelgood” atmosphere, the new shop says
