A Hale man is running 10 marathons in 10 days in a mammoth fundraising effort.

Neil Jones, 51, is currently on his fifth marathon in the Brathay 10in10 race, considered to be one of the UK’s toughest running events.

He will be completing the Windermere-based challenge on Sunday having clocked up over half a million steps in 10 days.

He is raising money for The Brathay Trust, a charitable organisation whose mission is to improve the life chances of children, young people and families by inspiring them to engage positively in their communities.

Long-term partner Danielle is cheering on Neil, who works at Digital Rewards Group in Altrincham and started training for his marathon effort seven months ago.

Neil said: “This is a big, scary challenge but it’s for a fantastic charity. It’s going to be mentally and phsyically extremely challenging. I really do appreciate any donation you can spare!

Neil has raised 58% of his target and currently at £1765. You can donate to his JustGiving page here.
