Happy birthday to us! Altrincham Today turns 10

"For everything happening in Altrincham, AT is your trusted source."

Altrincham Today is celebrating its 10th birthday.

The local news site, one of the longest-standing and most successful hyperlocal news sites in the UK, posted its first story on August 29th 2014.

Launched by David Prior as an attempt to shine a spotlight on Altrincham at a time when it was being largely overlooked by bigger publishers, Altrincham Today is now established as the leading news title in the town and its neighbouring villages.

From a standing start, it now receives over one million unique visitors a year with a highly engaged social community of over 70,000 people.

For the past seven years it has also been available in print, via a quarterly magazine that has twice been Highly Commended by the Regional Press Awards.

Having built the original site himself, the team has now grown to include Kath Dunham, Marketing and Sales Director, plus design and photography maestros Ingvar Carter and Laura Marie Linck.

Publisher David Prior said: "It has been a privilege to document the transformation of my home town of Altrincham over the past decade.

"Purely by chance, we launched just before the reopening of Market House and we have been there every step of the way as Altrincham has become the fantastic place it is today.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has supported us along the way - local businesses, community groups, our fantastic team of Kath, Ingvar and Laura, and of course our wonderful readers."

Kate Gerbich, Marketing & Communications Director at Altrincham BID, said Altrincham Today had been "a driving force in our town's remarkable regeneration".

"Over the past decade, Altrincham Today has been more than just a news source —it's been a driving force in our town's remarkable regeneration.

"Through quality hyperlocal journalism, they've championed local businesses, celebrated community spirit, and played a crucial role in boosting footfall.
