Altrincham awarded prestigious Purple Flag for vibrant and safe nighttime offering

It's similar to the Blue Flag awarded to beaches.

Altrincham has been awarded a Purple Flag - an international accolade recognising the quality of its night-time economy - for the second consecutive year.

The accreditation highlights the town's continued commitment to fostering a vibrant, safe and dynamic evening and night-time economy.

Similar to the Blue Flag awarded to beaches, a Purple Flag is granted by the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) to towns and cities that exhibit excellence in managing their nighttime offerings, between the hours of 5pm and 5am.

Altrincham BID was instrumental in securing this year’s Purple Flag, having put forward the interim submission for renewal.

The panel of independent ATCM assessors highlighted the strong standard of partnership within the town, demonstrated through effective cross-sector strategies and projects, as well as the positive public perception that reinforces Altrincham's broad appeal.

The town's success in receiving the Sustainability Award in Visa's Let's Celebrate Towns Awards also added weight to the renewal process.

Mandy White, BID Director for Altrincham, added: "Altrincham's renewed Purple Flag status is a testament to its thriving evening economy, and the hard work of our many night-time businesses and the Purple Flag working group, as well as the collaborative efforts to maintain a secure, welcoming environment for all."
