The Altrincham Garrick is to stage Come From Away next month, 25 years after the attacks that inspired the musical.
The Olivier-winning show tells the true story of 7,000 air passengers grounded in Gander, Newfoundland, after 9/11, and the small town that took them in.
The production opens on Thursday 10th September and will run to Saturday 19th September, and the 8pm performance on Friday 11th September will mark the anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack in history.
After the show there will be a short break, then a Q&A with the cast and creative team. All ticket-holders that night can stay.
Director Joseph Meighan said the musical resonates because it shows “a community coming together to make people feel safe and looked after” in a dark moment.
“Now, 25 years on from the events of 9/11, it is important for us to remember stories of hope and caring.”
The Garrick is also running a Pay It Forward collection throughout the run. Audiences are asked to bring non-perishable food, toiletries and essentials for Trafford North and Trafford South food banks. Items can be left in the foyer.
