The Altrincham tram line is to close for another two weeks this autumn as the latest phase of major improvement works gets underway.
No trams will run on the Altrincham line from Monday 19 October until Sunday 1 November while work takes place at Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar.
Services are scheduled to return to normal from the start of service on Monday 2 November.
The closure comes less than three months after Altrincham passengers endured a three-week shutdown of the line during the summer.
From July 13 to August 2, the entire Altrincham line was suspended while major track replacement work was carried out between Trafford Bar and Deansgate-Castlefield.
That formed part of Transport for Greater Manchester's near-£150 million programme of maintenance, upgrades and improvements across the Metrolink network.
The latest closure will once again affect the whole Altrincham line, including stops at Navigation Road and Timperley.
The Eccles and Trafford Centre lines will also be completely suspended during the two-week period.
Elsewhere on the network, services on the East Didsbury and Manchester Airport lines will terminate at Firswood, while Rochdale line services will terminate at Exchange Square.
Replacement buses will operate between affected stops.
TfGM says the closure will allow improvement works to be carried out at both Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar, with additional work taking place in Manchester city centre at the same time.
By carrying out several projects during the same closure, TfGM says it hopes to reduce the need for further shutdowns of the tram network.
Full details of replacement bus routes and timetables have not yet been published and TfGM says further information will be provided closer to the closure.
Passengers will still need a valid ticket during the works. Tram tickets covering the relevant zones will be accepted on tram replacement buses, while one-day Bee Bus tickets will also be valid on replacement services.
