Two Outstanding-rated Timperley care providers have joined forces for the first time to raise money for dementia.
Right at Home South Trafford and Wyncourt Nursing Home staged a joint picnic at Wyncourt this summer in aid of Dementia Adventure, Right at Home’s charity partner. It was the first collaboration of its kind for either organisation.
“It was a brilliant day. Absolutely fantastic,” says Vicki Hobson-Middleton, activities coordinator at Wyncourt.
Wyncourt’s garden was dressed for the occasion, with balloons, tombola, bingo, noughts and crosses and ring toss. Family members donated cakes, the home’s chef made more, and there were sandwiches on the tables. Relatives came over, staff joined in and the weather held.

“Everybody got involved,” Vicki says. “I was really worried about the weather, but it was just absolutely stunning.”
The home itself is a private, family-run nursing home that has been in Timperley for more than 30 years. There are 36 residents, most of them living with dementia, with some residential care as well.
“We consider the residents and their family our family as well,” Vicki says.
It was Wyncourt’s first collaboration with another company, and she is already talking about doing it again.
“It was a huge success. I would definitely do it again.”
Mark Beeby, Managing Director of Right at Home South Trafford, said the two organisations were a natural fit.
“We’re both proud to be rated Outstanding by the CQC, but more importantly, we share a real commitment to putting people at the heart of everything we do,” he says.

“Bringing our teams, residents, families and friends together for an afternoon in the garden was a wonderful opportunity to create connections and enjoy some quality time outdoors. It was particularly special to see everyone getting involved and having fun together.”
The Big Green Picnic is an annual initiative run by Right at Home in partnership with Dementia Adventure, raising money and awareness to help people living with dementia and their carers experience the benefits of nature and the outdoors.
“We’re proud to support Dementia Adventure and raise both awareness and funds for such an important cause,” Mark adds.
And, like Vicki, he hopes the picnic will be the start of a longer relationship between the two Timperley care providers.
“It was a fantastic first collaboration with Wyncourt, and we’d certainly love to build on it and do something together again.”
