Timperley village is set for an expanded Christmas lights display this year as plans are announced for the return of its festive switch-on event.
The second annual Timperley Christmas Lights Switch-On will take place on Saturday 28 November, with a programme of activities running from 12 noon until 6pm.
Organised by Timperley Civic Society, the event will build on the success of last year's inaugural celebration, with organisers promising more lights throughout the village centre.
The festivities will culminate in the official switch-on at 6pm.
Visitors can look forward to indoor and outdoor Christmas markets selling gifts, crafts, seasonal treats, food and drink, alongside live music and performances on an outdoor stage.
Younger visitors will be able to meet Father Christmas at the Methodist Church, which will also host children's craft activities.

There will also be funfair rides and a festive dog show, giving local pet owners the chance to get involved in the celebrations.
The event will take place across Timperley village, including the Methodist Church and Larkhill Centre.
Helen Besant-Roberts, a trustee of Timperley Civic Society, said: "Last year's event was a wonderful occasion for the village, and it was fantastic to see so many families, friends and neighbours coming together to celebrate the start of the festive season.
"We're incredibly excited to build on that success this year and create an even bigger and better celebration.
"Events like this are what Timperley Civic Society is all about – bringing people together, supporting our village and creating a real sense of community."
A particular focus this year will be extending the Christmas lighting displays, with the society hoping to create a festive attraction that residents can enjoy throughout December.
Fellow trustee Matthew Sellars said: "We had such a positive response to the Christmas lights last year that we wanted to go a step further this time.

"Our ambition is to have even more festive lights throughout the village, making Timperley look truly magical in the run-up to Christmas.
"We want to create something that local residents can feel proud of and that families can enjoy throughout the festive period, not just on switch-on day."
Organisers are also encouraging visitors to support local shops and businesses during the celebrations.
Trustee Jayne Jenkins said: "We've got so much planned this year, and we've really tried to make sure there's something for everyone.
"Whether you want to browse the Christmas stalls, enjoy some delicious food and drink, listen to live music, bring the children to see Santa or enter your dog in our festive competition, there'll be plenty to see and do.
"We'd love people to make a day of it. Come along with your family and friends, explore the village, support our fantastic local businesses and enjoy the festive atmosphere."
Timperley Civic Society is a volunteer-led registered charity which works to improve the village, protect its character and organise community activities.
This year's event is being supported by local businesses and organisations including Costa Coffee in Timperley, Forward Property Group and AMAE Electrical Services.
Admission is free, although charges may apply for individual attractions, refreshments and purchases from market stalls.
The Timperley Christmas Lights Switch-On takes place on Saturday 28 November 2026, from 12 noon to 6pm, with the lights switched on at 6pm.
