The scene at Navigation Road junction this morning

Travel around the Navigation Road station is facing severe disruption this morning after a car crashed into the barriers at the railway junction.

A car, thought to be an Uber taxi, appears to have attempted to beat the barriers as they were dropping shortly after 9am this morning.

However, he has hit one barrier and then completely bent another one on the opposite side of the track.

Pictures from the scene this morning show one barrier in a fixed half-open position and another flat on the roadside after being twisted out of shape.

Police have now set up a temporary block at the scene preventing any cars from going through the barriers which separate Navigation Road from Wellington Road.

The incident completely twisted one barrier out of shape

Pedestrians are currently being allowed across with police supervision.

Metrolink has now also suspended any service between Timperley and Altrincham, with tickets allowed to be used instead on the 18, 19, 245, 263, 281, 285 and 286 bus services

A policeman at the scene told us they would be viewing footage from CCTV cameras at the junction to ascertain what further action needs to be taken.
