A 66-year-old Altrincham resident has been charged with arson following a canal boat fire in Lancashire at the weekend.
Gary Laing, of Atlantic Street, faces charges of arson endangering life and arson with recklessness as to whether life would be endangered.
He has been held in custody ahead of a planned appearance at Lancaster Magistrates' Court today, reports Blog Preston.
The fire broke out on a canal barge near Garstang Marina, in Preston, at around 5pm on Saturday 31st January.

Three crews from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene, with Kepple Lane closed while firefighters tackled the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
Lancashire Police said a man was arrested in Manchester on Saturday evening on suspicion of arson before being charged.
