A man accused of sexually assaulting a child has been cleared after prosecutors dropped the case against him.
Hamed Mohamodie, 28, believed to be a resident at the Ashley Hotel in Hale which has been used as a migrant hotel since 2023, had been charged with sexual assault of a child under 13 following an alleged incident in Hale on New Year's Day.
Mr Mohamodie appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on January 3rd and was remanded in custody. The case was then transferred to Minshull Street Crown Court.
At a hearing yesterday, prosecutors offered no evidence against Mr Mohamodie, and he was cleared of the charge.
Greater Manchester Police had previously said officers were called at 2.20pm on January 1st following reports that a child had been sexually assaulted at a property in Hale.
