Public realm works in Altrincham are “nearing completion” – but two key town centre roads will be temporarily closed to allowed the work to be finished.
Over the past few months a programme of improvement works have been underway in the town centre affecting George Street, Market Street and Regent Road.
The work has included new footpaths, crossing points, paving, seating, cycle lanes, tree planting/planters and four new disabled parking bays.
In order to complete the work, Trafford Council has said that two roads will have to be temporarily shut.
Regent Road will be closed between Railway Street and Market Street from June 25th to July 14th.
Market Street will then be closed between Regent Road and High Street from July 17th to July 21st.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: “The large scale public realm works have almost been finished and are transforming Altrincham completely. The area has improved immensely and I am so pleased with the changes that have taken place.
“This work will improve the area for everyone – particularly pedestrians and cyclists. Thank you to everyone involved in this project – it really will improve Altrincham forever.”
The public realm improvements are then expected to be fully completed by July.
