A "high-end bar and restaurant" will form a key part of the proposed transformation of a former service yard in Altrincham town centre.

Altrincham-based developer Novo Property Group has revealed details of a scheme it is leading on Central Way.

The Twenty3 Central scheme would encompass a new restaurant unit - with a high-end independent already committed - as well as office and retail space, providing a connection to George Street.

The proposal is currently in the hands of Trafford Council's planning department - and there are potential complications due to the site being located within the George Street Conservation Area - but Novo managing director Ben Fearns is confident that it will be successful.

He told Altrincham Today: "We hope to make a destination out of Central Way and provide more reasons to go there.

"The council hasn't yet extended its public realm improvement work through Central Way yet, unlike other parts of the town centre.

"We'll do our bit in terms of creating a reason to go there and hopefully the council will do theirs and the rest of the public realm work will pull through."

Novo already owns the Everyman Cinema building - next door but one to Twenty3 Central - having bought it from Altrincham Regeneration last year.
