Pupils across Altrincham are celebrating after some excellent A Level results.
Across the whole of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, top grades have risen for the first time since 2021 – with 27.8% of all grades marked at A* or A.
And in Altrincham there were some hugely impressive results.
A remarkable 75 students at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls achieved an A* or A in all their subjects, with 19 students notching A* grades across the board and 68% of all exams graded A* or A.
Overall, 89% of exams graded at A*- B and 96% graded at A*- C.
Stephanie Gill, Principal at AGGS, said: “We are delighted that our students have achieved such excellent outcomes as the culmination of their years of study with us. They are a fitting reward for the hard work, determination and resilience our students have shown during the last two years."
At Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, 28.1% of exams were graded at A* and 64.96% at A* or A, the highest in the school’s history.
The average grade awarded was an A and 28 students achieved A* for three (or more) of their subjects.
Many of the students are now heading off to university, whilst others are embarking on pathways beyond the traditional university route, such as coveted apprenticeships at leading businesses.
Head Master Graeme Wright said: “I am immensely proud of our Year 13 leavers for these outstanding results, which reflect not only their relentless effort over the past two years but also the unwavering support and commitment of our dedicated staff.”
40% of the total grades achieved by pupils at St Ambrose College in Hale Barns were A* or A, up 10% on 2023.
Four students - George Donne, Joseph Daly, Conor Halpenny and Ben Hartigan - achieved A* in all A-level subjects.
Conor, George and Ben will be heading off to Oxford University to study history, chemistry and biology respectively, while Joseph is to take up a place at the University of Sheffield to study engineering.
In total, 28 students achieved A*/A across all their A-level subjects, with five students achieving a place to study medicine.
Principal Dermot Rainey said: “It has been a really positive morning seeing so many smiles and elated students. We are so pleased with their achievements: the result of students’ hard work and determination, as well as the dedication and commitment of our teaching staff.”
At Loreto Grammar, 55.1% of all grades were at A*- A, 87.0% of all grades were A*- B and 96.3% of all grades were Grades A*-C.
The results represented an increase on the previous year's results - grades at A* were 4% up and grades A*-B rose 12%.
Praising the "fantastic" results, headteacher Jane Beever said: "Our outcomes post-16 are always very strong and this year students have once again excelled.
"As always it is the individual successes we celebrate, the personal triumphs and achievements and I congratulate the year group as a whole. I also thank my colleagues for their hard work and endeavour, from Mr Newman and the sixth form team to the wonderful subject staff."
The average A Level grade rose year on year at Altrincham College, with nearly half of all students achieving grades A*-B.
Success stories included Dhruv (AAA), who will be reading Law, Nils (AA*A), who will be studying immunology at the University of Glasgow, and Oliver, who has been accepted by the University of Sheffield to study Aerospace Engineering.

I am thrilled that many achieved their personal best, shown in the delighted faces at school this morning. Hard work does pay off! Well done, and a huge thank you to our staff for their hard work too.”
The pupils of Wellington School in Timperley are also celebrating the school’s best ever A Level results.
66% of all grades came in at A*-B, and 82% of students are off to their first-choice university.
