Pupils across Altrincham were celebrating their GCSE results this week, with a number of schools reporting record marks.
Among those with improved grades was Altrincham College.
Headteacher Kim Earle, who is also CEO of the Achieve and Learn Trust, said: “We are delighted to see that the number of grades awarded at 9-5 has increased again this year, which is testament to the hard work, effort and determination of students and staff alike. Well done!”
Outstanding individual achievements included Rutuja, who achieved grade 9s across the board.
And Head Girl Chloe was delighted to secure top grades of 7s, 8s and 9s in all her subjects.
She said, “I am feeling very happy today as I got the results that I worked hard for.”
At Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College, the school said it was celebrating "fantastic" results.
"Today again we have come together as the BTHCC family to celebrate fantastic GCSE results and positive progress," the school said.
"All the students should be so proud of their results and the sixth form was a hive of activity and excitement as they enrolled in the next stage of their BTHCC journey.
"The Year 11 students have been a wonderful year group, and some will go on to study at different colleges or have been awarded an apprenticeship. We are so delighted for them all and wish them well."
At Loreto Grammar, 27.4% of all grades were awarded at the highest grade 9, with 76.5% of all grades awarded at 7 or above, which represents a 5% increase on last year’s results.
Headteacher Jane Beever said: “Today is an important day for Year 11 and I want to congratulate each student in the year group on their GCSE success.
“Overall, the picture for Loreto is tremendous. We were proud to celebrate the individual achievements of all students this morning; there are lots of smiling and happy students.
"Well done Year 11! We look forward to marking the occasion with the girls at the Bridgewater Hall at Speech Night in September.”
At St Ambrose College, the Attainment 8 score - based on students' performance across eight subjects - was 73.53, up from 72.84 last year.
There were many notable individual performances from students, including Elie Bitar, Leo Joseph, Chigozie Mamah, James O’Brien, Luca Patiniott and Alan Steevi, who all achieved the maximum 90 A8 points.
Principal Dermot Rainey said: “The students and staff should be rightly proud of these exceptional results. But behind the data and figures are incredible, resilient young men who never cease to amaze us with what they are capable of both inside and outside of the classroom.”
At Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, an incredible 46% of all entries achieved the very top grade of 9, with 90.4% of all results graded at 7 or above
A phenomenal 61 students achieved grade 8 or above in all of their examinations and 125 students passed all 9 subjects at grade 7 or above. Twelve students achieved grade 9 in all their subjects.
Stephanie Gill, Principal at AGGS, said: “The pandemic brought many challenges for this cohort during their years of study. They responded with resilience and hard work; they fully deserve these fantastic results.“
At Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Year 11 pupils were celebrating after 82% of all exams were awarded the top grades of 7, 8, or 9, with 37% securing a grade 9, the highest proportion in the school’s history
At Wellington School in Timperley, the school said its pupils had achieved the school’s best ever GCSE results.
