Forest Preparatory School is holding an array of events and celebrations to mark its 100th anniversary this school year.
The independent, co-educational school in Timperley was founded in 1924 by the Clegg sisters.
To mark its centenary year, the school will be planting a time capsule, holding a Gala Concert at the renowned Stoller Hall, and putting on tours for past pupils to revisit the school and enjoy afternoon teas.
The grand finale will be ‘Forest Fest’, a party for all pupils and parents.
New graffiti artwork in the school grounds - completed by local artist Charlie Chalks - also tells the story of Forest, and all children and staff received a commemorative pin badge featuring the school’s centenary logo at the start of term.
The time capsule will be planted on the last day of term (18th October) at the entrance to the original door for the school's air raid shelter.
The area will be marked with a plaque, and each class is deciding what they want to put in the capsule.
Mr Graeme Booth, Headmaster, said: "One hundred years ago, Forest Preparatory School planted the seeds of excellence, nurturing young minds with wisdom, courage, and compassion.
"Today, we celebrate a century of growth, resilience, and achievement, honouring the legacy of those who came before us and looking forward to the bright future ahead. Together, we continue to shape lives and inspire generations to come #theforestway."
Forest School was founded in 1924 by the Clegg sisters. Originally the school was located in a large house called The Laurels, across the road from the present Moss Lane site.
As the school flourished, it became necessary to move to larger premises at Oak Cottage.
Today, it is for children aged 2 to 11 years and was rated ‘Excellent’ in all areas in its latest ISI Report, in May 2018.
