The wintry blast has forced a number of schools across Altrincham to close today.
Temperatures plummeted to well below freezing last night, further hardening the ice that has made roads treacherous in recent days.
And the Arctic conditions has led to the closure of some local schools today.
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls blamed "very icy conditions" on the Bowdon school's site.
Headteacher Stephanie Gill said: "Due to very icy conditions on the school site and in the roads around school, for the safety of students and staff the school is closed today – Wednesday, January 8.
"Students should access their work on Teams. Please look out for further updates."
Also shut today is Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.
A statement from head Graeme Wright said: "After a site inspection this morning, we are making the difficult decision to close the school due to icy and unsafe conditions.
"Stay safe and we will hopefully be back open tomorrow.
"Unfortunately due to the school closure, the Year 9 theatre trip to watch An Inspector Calls is cancelled.
"As the school is closed today, work for students will be set on Satchel One as per the timetable.
"All students should check both Satchel One and their timetables."
And North Cestrian School is also closed, with a post on the school's website confirming: "After a site inspection we are making the difficult decision to close the school due to icy and unsafe conditions.
"Stay safe and we will hopefully be back open tomorrow. Work will be set for the students via Arbor."
Most schools in Altrincham have remained open, however.
A message to parents from Loreto head Jane Beever read: "The school remains open today and we look forward to welcoming the students as usual.
"I am very grateful to the site team for their hard work in this inclement weather."
Also open is Wellington School in Timperley.
A message to parents from head teacher read: "The site team has been working hard yesterday and this morning to clear paths around the site so I am confident students and members of staff can access and circulate around the site safely.
"There are, however, inevitably very icy areas off these paths so everyone must stick to the areas that have been cleared."
