Altrincham officer launches Cheshire Maritime Ball

The glittering charity event is set to take place at Tatton Park on Saturday August 3rd.

A Royal Navy officer from Altrincham is behind a new event that looks to bring the fun and splendour of a Navy mess ball to Cheshire.

Lieutenant Joe Allan has launched the Cheshire Maritime Ball, with a glittering charity event set to take place at Tatton Park on Saturday August 3rd.

Having grown up in Altrincham, Lt. Allan left before finishing sixth form at Wellington School in Timperley in order to join the Navy as a 17-year-old.

He has since been commissioned as an officer and has travelled to four continents including visits to Australia, Singapore, Cyprus and the Middle East.

Having attended a number of navy balls already during his time in service, he has now been inspired to create a Northern version that will raise funds for The Christie, where his stepmother is currently being treated following a terminal cancer diagnosis.

The ball will also raise funds for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

Lt. Allan said: "It will be a memorable evening of fine dining, dancing and live entertainment.

"I thought that with the leadership skills I have developed in the Navy it was worth giving it a shot, and it has just snowballed from there.

"Fundamentally the night will be for the charities we are supporting, but there's no reason why people can't have a great night at the same time."

The dress code for the event is black tie, or Royal Navy personnel should wear 2A or 2AW mess dress with negative headgear, or the equivalent for other services.

Lt. Allan is currently seeking a main sponsor for the night - contact him on TheCheshireMaritimeBall@outlook.com. For tickets, search The Cheshire Maritime Ball on Eventbrite.
