Altrincham’s Stamford Quarter is to hold a huge street party to celebrate the launch of its brand new public square.
Stamford Square has been completely transformed this year as the £13.7m redevelopment of the former Rackhams department store into Foundation, a work and leisure destination, has come to fruition.
And to mark the occasion, a street party will be held in the square on Saturday 31st August, with family-friendly activities taking place between 12pm and 8pm.
The event will take place in collaboration with local radio station Happy Radio, who will be taking over Stamford Square from 1-6pm, with local musicians and DJs including acclaimed Latino Jazz group Sam Q’s Night Patrol, high energy indie-pop band Parlaiz, local singer songwriter Imogen Paige and Happy Radio DJ Darren Proctor.
Between 6pm and 8pm, entertainment will be provided by Nell’s Pizza’s resident DJ.
Family events during the day will include:
- Lane7 pop-up interactive games including basketball hoops and darts as well as exciting giveaways
- Face painting and glitter stands hosted by Happy Radio
- Children’s colouring workshops hosted by Boots
- Back to school craft sessions with Sostrene Grene
Cbeebies favourite Bluey will also be making special guest appearances from 3.15-3.30pm and 4.15-4.30pm, with interactive singing and dancing for all the family to enjoy.
Boutique bowling brand Lane7, who recently opened their Altrincham site in the Stamford Quarter’s Foundation building, will also be rolling their very own ice cream van into Stamford Square and whipping up FREE soft serve.
Pop-up food traders will also be on site for the duration of the street party, serving up an array of street food dishes.
Other pop ups taking place at the Stamford Square launch include:
- Chinese restaurant Yum Cha, will be be opening in Foundation later this year, will be handing out free samples of their famous dim sum
- Boots will be handing out No 7 sun essentials samples
- Starbucks will be giving away coffee samples
- Scrivens will be providing a glasses repair and cleaning service
- Holland and Barrett will have a Neubria supplements samples stall
