Explore Altrincham's history this Easter with new free family heritage trail

Discover Altrincham: A Journey Through Time takes explorers on an interactive journey through the town's past

Looking for a free, fun and educational activity to keep the family entertained this Easter holiday? Altrincham's brand new heritage trail offers the perfect adventure for all ages.

Discover Altrincham: A Journey Through Time - a self-guided walking tour through the town's fascinating history - has launched just in time for the school break, providing families with the perfect activity to take advantage of the continuing good weather.

The free trail, created by Altrincham BID, takes explorers on an interactive journey through the town's past, with a series of marked stops highlighting significant historical moments and interesting local stories.

Young adventurers will particularly enjoy the interactive clues featured throughout the trail, and the experience is enhanced with QR codes at various locations that reveal additional photographs and videos about Altrincham's rich heritage.

"Discover Altrincham: A Journey Through Time is an exciting opportunity for everyone to engage with the history that has shaped Altrincham into the vibrant, thriving community it is today," said Mandy White, Director of Altrincham BID.

"We are incredibly proud to have brought this project to fruition, with the help of many contributors, to offer both residents and visitors a chance to uncover the layers of history embedded in our town’s fabric.”

The new heritage trail was launched at a Town Hall event last week

The trail, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, has been designed to be accessible for all ages.

Families can pick up trail sheets from Altrincham Interchange, OYEZ Arts in the Town Hall or Altrincham Library. Alternatively, you can download the trail guide directly here.

The trail was officially unveiled at Altrincham Town Hall last week at a launch event attended by members of Altrincham Court Leet and other supporters who helped develop the project.
