Budding bakers across Altrincham are being invited to dust off their mixing bowls as the town's Ultimate Pudding Competition returns for 2026.
The competition, organised by Altrincham BID as part of the A Taste of Altrincham festival, challenges residents to create a dessert or cake that captures the character and flavour of the town.
Running from 27th February to 7th March, this year's competition has been expanded to include three categories: children (up to age 11), students (11 and over, currently in education), and adults.
Entrants are encouraged to draw inspiration from Altrincham's history, its markets, independent businesses, or the local community to create a pudding that tells a story about what makes the town special.
Finalists will present their creations to a panel of judges at a live event at Altrincham Town Hall on Saturday 7th March at 2pm. The overall winning dessert will be crowned the Official Altrincham Pudding 2026.
Mandy White, Director of Altrincham BID, said: "This is an incredible opportunity for the community to showcase their creativity and passion for food. Following the success of last year's competition, we cannot wait to see how entrants of all ages interpret the unique essence of Altrincham in their desserts."

Tickets for the final are free but must be reserved in advance via Eventbrite.
