An Altrincham bar has begun selling a rare whiskey that was specially created for Frank Sinatra – and comes with a price tag of £13 a shot.

Riddles Bar, on Greenwood Street, is selling Sinatra Select, a whiskey that was originally prepared for the legendary crooner himself.

After his death in 1998, the true recipe was thought lost – until a small amount of the blend was discovered and sent to Jack Daniels’ distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, for analysis.

With the blessing of the singer’s family, the whiskey has now been relaunched.

Bottled at 90 proof and 45% abv, it’s said to have a “rich amber color, bold character and a pleasant smokiness, followed by an incredibly smooth vanilla finish”.

“We are exceptionally proud to stock the Sinatra Select whiskey,” says Riddles owner and bar manager, Del Lowe.

“It is both beautiful and rare, which is exactly the sort of experience we want to offer our guests.”
