Costa Coffee has today opened its new Timperley outlet, two days ahead of schedule.

The coffee chain has had a “soft” launch and is now serving customers. There are still plans for some sort of official opening on Thursday.

We were given a sneak preview of the 588 sq ft Paul House unit which has been vacant since since retailer Village Domestics moved out in 2013.

Store manager Joanne Birrane, who has previously worked at Costa outlets in Altrincham and Didsbury, lives in Timperley.

She said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be open and are looking forward to serving the people of Timperley and beyond. As in other places where we have opened stores, we hope that our arrival will bring more footfall into the village generally that will benefit other shops, cafes and restaurants too.”

Costa finally agreed the terms on the lease in November after months of prolonged negotiations. Over 150 people applied for the new jobs created by the store’s arrival.

Opening hours are 7am to 7pm on Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm on Saturdays and 8am to 6pm on Sundays.
