A man has been arrested after a raid on TK MAXX in Altrincham in the early hours of this morning.
The man used an iron grid to smash a window at the George Richards Way store before stealing a number of items inside.
A couple of hours later an officer spotted a moped going through red lights at high speed, “narrowly avoiding” the police vehicle.
The offender sped off, but lost control and crashed on Brownley Road in the Sharston area.
He was chased on foot and detained, but an accomplice escaped.
A man was arrested on suspicion of the shoplifting offence, moped theft and dangerous driving.
