View from the Dugout: It’s been a frustrating time – but we know we deserve to be higher up the table

Last Saturday’s postponement of our scheduled National League North game at the J Davidson Stadium against Telford was very frustrating.

We are playing well at present, but four of the five games in our unbeaten run have been in the FA Cup and it was a missed opportunity to start picking up some more league points.

Our next home league fixture is on November 16th, exactly 10 weeks from our last National League North game at the J Davidson Stadium when we beat Leamington 5-0 on September 7th.

Our league position of 18th doesn’t reflect well on us, although I think that it’s a bit false, as we should have five or six more points, with the opportunity to push towards the play-off spots with the games in hand that we have.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that we deserve to be any higher than mid-table, but I believe that we have performed better than 18th position and it is frustrating every time you look at the league table.

All of our outstanding league games have been rearranged and we have got a very busy period between now and the end of the year, but the good news is that, apart from the Kettering game at the end of November, we haven’t got any travelling to do midweek.

On Saturday, we face our second longest away trip of the league season, when we travel to Kings Lynn, who are a very good side that has only lost two league games since gaining promotion in May.

Ian Culverhouse’s side like to play, so it could well be a game for the football purists and we know that they have a very dangerous front two in Michael Gash and Adam Marriott, who scored two very good goals against Chester a couple of weeks ago.

The captain, Michael Clunan, is a very neat and tidy midfield player who links play up well and Chris Henderson is also a player who we will need to be very mindful of, but we carry a lot of threat in our team and we will be looking to expose Kings Lynn by using the qualities that we have got.

Connor Hampson is making good progress recovering from his foot ligament injury, that he initially sustained against Gloucester City in the third game of the season, however this weekend is probably too early for him.

Yusifu Ceesay has done three training sessions since returning from Blackpool and could be involved.

Lewis Archer has signed on dual-registration for Dudley Town, as he has not played for over two months now and needs games to regain match fitness, so he will not be involved in the immediate future.

It’s a tough assignment on Saturday in Norfolk, but one that we are fully capable of returning from with all three points.
