Altrincham-based Altin Homes has won a prestigious award for its transformation of a 7,000 sq ft Bowdon house.

At the UK Property Awards in London, Altin won in the Best Renovation for Greater Manchester category for its work on Fairfield House, on Green Walk.

The interior of the property was gutted and completely redeveloped and the building extended with a large single storey leisure suite incorporating a gym, sauna and media room, linked to the original house via a glass corridor.

Altin Homes managing director, Mohammad Khoy, said: “These days the tendency is to knock a property down and start from scratch and that was something we did look at however, the property was really well built and it seemed such a waste.

“Instead we decided to work with the excellent house and give it a complete face lift whilst adding a really contemporary feature.”

Now in their 26th year, The UK Property Awards are judged by an independent panel of over 80 industry experts with judging focusing on design, quality, service, innovation, originality and commitment to sustainability. The panel was chaired by Lord Caithness, Lord Best, The Earl of Liverpool and Lord Thurso.
