McDonald’s, Nando’s and Costa Coffee have announced they will be closing all UK outlets from today.

McDonald’s, which has an outlet at the Altrincham Retail Park, is closing all 1,270 of its UK restaurants by 7pm today.

Nando’s, which opened in Altrincham town centre in 2017, has also said it has closed its approximately 400 UK restaurants “until further notice”.

And Costa Coffee, which has outlets in Altrincham and Timperley, said it will be temporarily closing from this evening.

The coffee chain said it had taken the decision “as the need to support social distancing increases”.

It did say however that it would be keeping its Costa stores in hospitals open and would make takeaway coffee free to NHS workers for the next two weeks.

On Friday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson had said that restaurants and cafes must close, but exempted takeaway food places.
