Public tennis courts and bowling greens in Altrincham are back open again – but playgrounds remain closed

Public tennis courts and bowling greens have been reopened across Altrincham – but children’s play areas remain closed for now.

Public tennis courts and bowling greens have been reopened across Altrincham – but children’s play areas remain closed for now.

In line with the government’s move to ease the coronavirus lockdown, some facilities in local parks have been reopened.

They include multi-use game areas, such as the basketball court area on the Navigation Recreation Ground.

Tennis courts, such as those in John Leigh Park and Stamford Park, are now open again.

And bowling greens are once again available for use, although bowling pavilions are still out of action.

Children’s playgrounds, outdoor gyms, climbing walls and public toilets are remaining closed until further notice.

Trafford Council said that people should “where possible, avoid touching fixed objects such as hand rails and gates”.

It added: “We encourage everyone to follow government guidance on minimising mass gatherings or events and ask that you follow these in our parks and green spaces.

“If visiting a park with friends or family, please remember that groups of no more than two people are allowed unless you are from the same household, and you should keep two meters apart from each other. This guidance is under review and may change following the latest government advice.”
