There’s a new arrival in Goose Green, just in time for Christmas.

The Bottle Shop is a cosy cave packed full of artisan spirits, local brewery beers and world wines.

It’s a great option for the festive season, whether for drinking or giving, and we’ve put together six of the best locally made options which are all available, some of them exclusively for Altrincham, at The Bottle Shop.

Here they are…

1. Altrincham 1290 Classic Dry Gin | 40% ABV | Made by Brindle Distillery

Distilled and bottled by Brindle Distillery in Lancashire, 1290 – named after year when Altrincham was granted its historic market charter – is a juniper-rich gin, infused with fresh grapefruit, lemon, angelica and classic botanicals teamed with rosemary and lemon thyme. Brindle distill the gin with fresh natural spring water in a copper pot still heated by biomass boilers.

2. Lucky Bee Hench London Dry Gin (also in Classic and Raspberry flavours) | 57% ABV | Made by Lucky Bee in Timperley

Created by Lucky Bee, a small batch gin company that’s just launched in Timperley, this Navy-strength Hench gin is a punchy 57% ABV. It has a smooth almond finish and is perfect either neat on the rocks or with a wedge of lemon, as well as tonic.

3. Zymurgorium | 40% ABV | Made in Irlam

Zymurgorium, the first registered distillery in Greater Manchester, conducts its operations all under one roof in Irlam, including distilling, bottling, warehouse and office functions, together with state-of-the-art production and bottling facilities. It’s known for creating the world’s first Parma Violet gin liqueur as well as the world’s first Ruby Chocolate rum, and has over 30-plus spirits and liqueurs in its range. This Manchester Gin is described as “sumptuous and ultra complex” with slightly sweet floral fore notes, continuing on to spice with a finishing herbal touch.

4. Gravity Slide | 5.7% ABV | Made by Mobberley Brewhouse

Situated in an idyllic setting in the heart of the rolling Cheshire countryside, The Mobberley Brewhouse offers a range of session beers as well as more modern craft beers. A “stunning trio of hops” has gone into this balanced, easy drinking IPA. It’s full of fresh citrus and tropical fruit flavours with low bitterness, ensuring effortless drinkability.

5. Li’l Napoleon Pale Ale | 3.9% ABV | Made by Stubborn Mule Brewery in Altrincham

“Short, cocky and attention-seeking”, just like the chap it’s name after. An aggressively ambitious session Pale Ale that features a tropical, citrus orange finish with a fruity mid-range bitterness. This one didn’t have to travel far as it was made in Altrincham itself, at Stubborn Mule Brewery just off Navigation Road.

6. Rum25 (Spiced Butterscotch / Biscoff) | 37.5% ABV | Made by Rum25 in Bucklow Hill

Joe Long, a serving Royal Marines Commando, launched Rum25 to give himself another career option when he is forced to retire from the Marines at 40. Based in Bucklow Hill near Knutsford, he currently has a range of four rums, including these delightfully festive numbers.
