Altrincham Grammar School for Girls has been named the region’s state school of the decade in a prestigious schools guide.

The Bowdon school will be revealed tomorrow as the Northwest State Secondary School of the Decade in The Sunday Times’ Parent Power Schools Guide 2021.

This year, as well as publishing the 2019 examinations results, Parent Power has selected 26 ‘Schools of the Decade’ from all corners of the country in recognition of their sustained excellence over the last 10 years.

Altrincham Grammar has featured regularly in the guide in recent years, ranked first in the North West last year and named the overall State Secondary School of the Year in 2017.

In a tweet, the school said it was “delighted” to land the honour.

The school was also ranked first in the list of North West state secondary schools, ahead of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys in second.

Loreto Grammar was sixth best in the North West, with St Ambrose College 13th.
