A man has died after collapsing on a bus in Timperley earlier today.

Paramedics were called to Stockport Road in the village just after 10.30am this morning.

A man, who was in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident led to Stockport Road being closed for around three hours between Shaftesbury Avenue and Park Road.

Greater Manchester Police, who also attended the scene, said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance said: “We received a call at 10.32am to Stockport Road to reports of a person who had collapsed and we dispatched an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.”

A spokesperson for GMP added: “Officers were called by colleagues from NWAS to a report of concern for a man on a bus on Stockport Road just after 11.30am today (30 December 2020).

“Emergency services attended and a man in his 80s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The road was temporarily closed whilst emergency services attended.

“There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a report is being prepared for the Coroner.”
