Coronavirus has been ‘suppressed’ across almost the whole of the Altrincham area, the latest data has revealed.

The figures from Public Health England show that eight out of 10 ‘Middle layer Super Output Areas’ – which statisticians use to measure Covid data most accurately – have had fewer than three cases in the seven days to March 17th, the most recent available data.

Those areas are Altrincham East, Bowdon, Hale, Hale Barns, Timperley East, Timperley North, Timperley South and West Timperley.

In the other two areas – Altrincham West & Dunham and Bowdon – there were just seven and four new cases respectively.

The numbers also suggest there has not been a spike in cases caused by the reopening of schools on March 8th.

Across the whole of Trafford the picture is similarly positive, with the infection rate per 100,000 people now standing at 43 (for the week to March 18th), down 34% week on week, and below the English national average of 56.3.
