Morrison Property Services, which has had a presence in Altrincham since 1875, has been acquired by Oakwood Valuation Surveyors.
The deal sees three staff join the five-person team at Oakwood, which was launched two years ago and is based in Station House in the town centre.
All of Morrison property management clients have moved over to Oakwood, and director Jonathan Morrison has joined the firm as a consultant.
Graham Bowcock is founder and managing director of Oakwood Valuation Surveyors, a specialist firm of chartered surveyors providing property valuations and expert advice.
He said: “Morrison has a very strong property heritage so we’re delighted to have done the deal.
“We have considerable ambition to grow the company, particularly on the estate agency side, and my background as a chartered surveyor is something a lot of agencies in the area simply don’t have.
“We feel we can offer a more rounded service for our clients.”
Bowcock said he had never seen the market in Altrincham as busy as it is now.
“In 35 years of business, I’ve never seen as much work as there has been in the last three to four months.”
Morrison Property Services has had offices in various locations in Altrincham during its time, but most recently has been based on Lloyd Street. The combined business will now operate from Oakwood’s offices at Station House.
Bowcock added: “Our localism is so key to our business – nearly all the staff are Timperley born and bred. With Morrison on board, we feel very well placed to grow the business quickly.”
