A 1.73-acre patch of brownfield land close to Altrincham FC looks set to be sold.
Sabre Holdings has instructed property consultancy Legat Owen to market its former Sabre Instrument Valves (SIV) site close to Golf Road and Moss Lane.
SIV – which made and distributed valves to the oil and gas industry – was last year bought out of administration by Calderdale-based Alco Valves.
Both unconditional and conditional offers are invited for the site, either for its existing commercial use or for potential redevelopment.
The former manufacturing facility comprises three main buildings with additional circulation space, car parking and a yard.
The current accommodation has an approximate internal area of almost 26,000 sq ft.
The disposal represents a rare opportunity to acquire a sizeable portion of land within half a mile of the town centre, and is likely to prove highly attractive to developers.
Will Rees, director in development land agency and consultancy at Legat Owen, said: “The revitalisation of Altrincham town centre is one of the retail success stories of recent years, and this has always been a desirable part of the town.
“It has to be said that the chance to acquire such a sizeable development opportunity in a well-established neighbourhood doesn’t present itself often.
“The site is well connected by road and public transport, with good local amenities, and we expect it to prove popular.”
