People can for the first time walk a “completely unique” development featuring 14 luxury homes, described as the only scheme of its type in Cheshire.
The exclusive Lowood development, located just a mile from Wilmslow town centre, is the most ambitious project ever delivered by Altrincham-based company Bowdon Homes.
As of now, prospective buyers will be able to freely walk the recently-completed development and fully appreciate its scale - as well as the tranquil setting just five miles from Altrincham.
The 14 detached homes, which start from £1.8million, have all been architecturally designed by another local firm, Calderpeel, and such is the size of the scheme that it has taken three years to complete.
“It’s a completely unique development,” said Bowdon Homes founder Paul Masterson.
“There have been several developments in Cheshire of schemes of three or four homes of this specification and value, but Lowood is the first large community to be developed of large, bespoke homes on individual plots.
“What makes it particularly unique is that the plots are wrapped in an amazing communal landscape that was carefully considered in its design.”
The detached four and five-bedroom properties are positioned around shared landscaped courtyards that are designed to foster community and security.
Each home features an air source heat pump with underfloor heating, SieMatic kitchen appliances and Tissino bathrooms.
Particularly unusual is the setting, with the four-and-a-half acre development bounded to the east by picturesque Forestry Commission land and to the north by local ecological treasure, Lindow Moss.
“Each property is built on around a quarter of an acre and has a private, hedged-in rear garden and patio,” said Masterson.
“But we made the very considered design decision to create an open communal aspect on the road and the driveways, creating a real sense of community and passive security.
“The security at Lowood is also helped by the fact it is located at the end of a very long private cul-de-sac, which we feel is not inviting at all to anyone who shouldn’t be here.”
A number of homes on the development were snapped up off-plan, and Masterson said there had been “a real buzz” of interest in the remaining homes as the site’s completion neared.
For the next few weeks, interested parties can explore the site and remaining properties before off-plan buyers move into their new homes later in the autumn.
“What they can now do - which they couldn’t before - is walk the whole length of the site,” added Masterson.
“They can also have access to all the houses, all the back gardens and really get a feel for the whole layout and plan and design of the site.
“Previously it was photos and videos and arranging special site visits, but it’s changed so much in the past three months. It’s really worth coming down and seeing the site for real. There’s a real sense of tranquillity and peace here that you can only experience by visiting in person.”
Masterson, a pioneer in bespoke new-build homes in the Bowdon and Altrincham area, said that people who had already committed to Lowood properties thought they represented “amazing value for money”.
“I was very keen to design and build houses that we could keep sensibly priced at under £2million,” he added.
“To deliver this size and quality of house in this location for under £2million was a challenge, but we’ve done it. They will sell at £540 per sq ft, so with new-build homes in Cheshire ranging from £500 to £800, we’re very well priced.”
