Popular restaurant and bar to open in former Stockyard and Amba unit in Hale village

It currently has a popular restaurant in Urmston.

A new restaurant and bar is to open in Hale in the unit formerly occupied by Amba and Stockyard.

Owen's Kitchen and Bar is to open its second outlet in the Ashley Road unit next month.

The first Owen's has proved a hit since opening in Urmston in October last year, serving classic English food with an Asian twist.

Reviews site Manchester Confidential said the Urmston restaurant was "nothing short of wonderful".

The sale of the unit - which has been vacant for several months since tapas restaurant El Olivo closed down - was negotiated by local firm Harvey Silver Hodgkinson.

A number of restaurants have tried to make the space work since Amba built up a loyal following before selling in 2015.

American-themed bar and restaurant Stockyard tried originally, before relaunching as Morley's in 2018 and then Deadwood Smokehouse in 2019.

After the disruption of Covid it then became The Embassy and then El Olivo.

Owens in Urmston is open seven days a week, serving brunch at weekends, lunch and dinner, with Sunday and children's menus.
