A critically acclaimed family drama which played to packed houses at the Lowry is opening at the Altrincham Garrick on Monday.

Things I Know To Be True has enjoyed three professional tours but this is one of the first opportunities to see it on the amateur stage.

It opens on Monday 29th April and runs until Saturday 4th May.

Andrew Bovell has written about how families can struggle to love and how also members of even the strongest of families can easily hurt those who are the closest to them. The play poses these questions – What do generations owe to each other? Can the ‘sacrifice now, live later’ ethos of our parents ever find a happy meeting point with the ‘live now, pay later’ approach of the millennials?

Most of all this play looks at the tightness of ties that bind families and how we must face our parents’ imperfections as a part of facing our own.

Previous reviewers have called it an “extraordinary piece of theatre which captures the joys and frustrations of family life”.

For tickets to the play, call the box office on 0161 928 1677 (Option 1) or visit the website. For this show, there’s a special student price of £10.
