The founder and choir director of Alty Voices has been named a finalist in the Northern Gamechangers awards, which recognise people who are making a difference in their communities.

Rose de la Font, from Timperley, runs weekly choirs across South Manchester with Alty Voices, Chorlton Sings and the newly launched Sale Sings.

Her modern pop choirs, which launched in 2021, bring together people from across the community to improve their musicality in a fun and energetic way.

Nominated by members of her choirs, Rose’s sessions have been instrumental in supporting the mental wellbeing of some of its members, helping them meet new people while building their confidence.

Rose is one of 50 individuals and businesses shortlisted for the awards, with the Top 10 Northern Gamechangers set to be announced at the official award ceremony on 21st September.

Ilona Alcock, Co-Founder and Director of organisers Elevate, said: “Rose’s story is a great example of someone who’s introduced something a little different to their community, which has brought everyone together in a fun way while also focusing on boosting their members’ wellbeing.”
