It opens at the theatre this Friday.

Spellbinding entertainment awaits audiences at the Altrincham Garrick this Easter holiday as The Worst Witch arrives in town.

Opening on Friday, April 4th, and running until Thursday 17th April, this enchanting production will invite theatregoers to step into the whimsical world of Miss Cackle's Academy for witches.

Before Harry Potter captured the imagination of young readers, there was Mildred Hubble, the well-meaning but disaster-prone young witch created by author Jill Murphy.

The Olivier Award-winning adaptation by Emma Reeves, featuring music by Luke Potter and direction by Kay Valentine, brings all the charm and chaos of Murphy's beloved books to the stage.

The story follows Mildred in her final year at Miss Cackle's Academy as she and her fellow students prepare to stage a play about their magical education.

However, true to Mildred's reputation, what begins as a simple performance quickly descends into genuine danger when jealous classmate Ethel Hallow causes trouble and an old enemy returns seeking revenge - all under the watchful eye of the formidable Miss Hardbroom.

The production first premiered at Royal & Derngate in Northampton in 2019 before touring nationally and enjoying a successful West End run, where it claimed the 2020 Olivier Award for Best Family Show.

Now, Altrincham audiences can experience the same spectacular combination of storytelling, stage magic and original music that has delighted families across the UK.

In keeping with Altrincham Garrick Playhouse's commitment to accessibility, a special relaxed performance will be held on Sunday 13th April at 5:30pm.

Tickets are available online at www.altrinchamgarrick.co.uk or by calling the box office on 0161 928 1677.
