“We bring the Alibi vibe to you”: Demand for cocktail bar's mobile service rockets

It can cater for everything from 20 people at a house party to a 200-person wedding.

It’s the go-to cocktails and karaoke bar in Altrincham - but now you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home.

Alibi, which celebrated two years in Altrincham in September, has seen demand for its mobile bar service rocket this year.

“We bring the Alibi vibe to you,” says owner Carl Peter. “If you’re having a private party, we will come in, make your drinks the Alibi way, and leave you to go wild.”

Alibi’s mobile bar service, which can cater for everything from 20 people at a house party to a 200-person wedding, involves the Shaw’s Road bar literally taking care of all the guests’ drinks’ needs.

“Generally speaking, people will ask us to bring everything - the drinks, the glassware, ice, bar units and staff,” said Carl.

“Or they’d prefer to buy the drinks themselves, leaving us to take care of everything else.”

Alibi's mobile bar units can make cocktails, mocktails and are also equipped to serve draught beer

Alibi’s mobile bar staff will then make up the cocktails as if they were working behind the bar itself.

As well as cocktails, the mobile units are equipped to serve draught beer, and can also make mocktails for kids' parties.

“We're there to offer the best quality drinks at a house party or big event,” said Carl. “We can cater for weddings, bar mitzvahs, 50ths, 40ths, divorce parties, whatever you want.”

“Recently we did James Bond-themed cocktails for an event at the Bowdon Rooms.”

Alibi's mobile bar service is a "treat" for your party guests, Carl said

Recent demand for the service has led to Alibi ordering two new specially made mobile bar units.

Carl has actually been mobile bar-tending for over 20 years, having bought an ice cream van back in 2008 and used it to set up his own mobile service.

“It was called The Cocktail Van and was a big success, a long time before food and drinks trucks were as popular as they are now” says Carl.

“But I got a job with Diageo in London and they saw it as a conflict of interest and asked me to sell it.”

As well as the mobile bar service, Alibi can also bring their karaoke equipment and host karaoke as part of their celebration.

“The requests come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and each event is very different,” adds Carl. “But we will come and go without a trace.”

“One customer recently told us how good it was to have cocktails made for you,” he says.

“It means there are no drinks all over your island and you don’t have to worry about it. It’s impressive and it's a treat for your guests.

“We always say to people who are having a party, spend a few extra quid and let us do all the hard work - you can then just focus on letting your hair down!”
