An Altrincham hotel and pub are closing their doors for the final time this week.
The George and Dragon pub on Manchester Road will serve customers for the last time tomorrow, while the adjoining 43-bedroom Premier Inn will close the following day.
A member of staff at the George and Dragon confirmed to Altrincham Today that the historic pub - which has a history dating back at least to the eighteenth century when it served as a coach staging post - will be closing after last orders tomorrow.
Guests with bookings at the Premier Inn have also been receiving cancellation emails confirming that tomorrow will be the final day.
An email sent to one person stated: "Unfortunately, our Manchester Altrincham hotel is closing. We'd like to apologise for the inconvenience, and let you know that we're automatically transferring your booking to another Premier Inn hotel nearby at no extra cost."

The combined site was put up for sale in May 2024 by property agents Gerald Eve LLP as a freehold development opportunity, with the sales particulars suggesting potential for "a range of alternative uses including residential, retirement and care home (subject to planning)."
The 0.68-acre site occupies a prominent gateway position on the A56 Manchester Road, just a few hundred yards from Altrincham town centre.
There's no word yet on whether any deal has completed or who the new owners may be.
The news does represent a further blow for Altrincham's hotel industry, particularly with the Cresta Court having been used for the past year as a migrant hotel.
