A local businesswoman has been shortlisted for The Mumpreneur Awards, which aim to recognise parents who have successfully juggled business with family life.

Becs Jeffery, a mum of one from Altrincham, runs Fi & Becs Design & Marketing alongside her sister Fi, who is based in Halifax.

Together the pair provide services including branding, design, copywriting and marketing.

Becs’s business has been shortlisted in the Boost category, which is open to businesses who can demonstrate high growth against the odds whether financially, by business size or market.

Since starting two years ago, Fi & Becs have built up a portfolio of over 90 clients, including bookshops, dentists, farm shops and housing associations.

Becs said: “I am so delighted that we’ve been recognised by the Mumpreneur Awards as a business of extraordinary growth.

“Our slightly alternative working hours (usually 9am-3pm, then 7pm-9pm) fit in really well with smaller companies who need to run their business during the daytime, and they allow us to manage our workload alongside being mums and picking up the kids everyday at 3pm.

“We both firmly believe that when starting your own business you can use your role as a working mum as a real strength. We’ve actually found that being mums has helped us win contracts with companies like Matalan and Mothercare who are looking to engage with busy parents running households all over the UK.”

The winner will be announced at The Mumpreneur Conference and Awards, which is being held in Warwickshire next month.
