Bright & Beautiful, the domestic cleaning business founded by Altrincham entrepreneur Rachel Ray, has been acquired by American company The Dwyer Group.

Ray, a former accountant and business consultant, set up the company in 2007 and has grown it to more than 50 franchisees and annual revenues of around £5m. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

Based out of a head office on Hale Road in Altrincham, Bright and Beautiful is an eco-friendly cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing service, aimed particularly at busy working people.

Ray had come up with the concept back in the mid-2000s when she struggled to find an equivalent service to fit with her busy lifestyle.

“Like many women I was juggling life around a high pressure career. I started the business because I couldn’t find a reputable service like it – I wanted to feel like my home was managed – and I wanted to be my own boss,” she said.

The Dwyer Group is one of the world’s largest parent companies of trade service brands, and Bright & Beautiful represents its ninth acquisition in the last few years.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bright & Beautiful to the Dwyer Group family of brands,” said Mike Bidwell, president and CEO of Dwyer Group.

“This addition helps Dwyer Group diversify our brand presence in the UK, taking us one step closer to offering a comprehensive residential and commercial service line-up to our customers.”
