Altrincham businesses Sew Creative and Tile by Tile have been named joint winners of the Judges’ Award in this year’s ‘Festive Favourite’ competition.
Over 30 town centre businesses entered this year’s competition, which has been run again by Altrincham’s Business Improvement District (The BID).
Yesterday the judges, Stephen and Claire Hodder of award-winning architectural practice Hodder+Partners, toured the town and selected Sew Creative, on Stamford New Road, and Tile By Tile, on Church Street, as joint overall winners. Moss Studio-Store and Ferrious were named runners-up.
It is now down to the public to vote for their favourite on the Altrincham Today Facebook page.
Stephen and Claire Hodder said: “We were extremely impressed with the standard of the competition and with the amount of time and effort put in by the shops and businesses of Altrincham.
“We found it difficult to separate the two winning shop front designs. We were particularly impressed with the way in which Tile By Tile had extended their design through all floors, with the robin and its red mosaic tiles being a lovely seasonal touch.
“Sew Creative demonstrated great imagination in the way their products had been integrated into the design and had clearly put a great deal of thought into it. Congratulations to both.”
Kate Gerbich, Events and Communications Manager for the BID, added: “It was incredible to see so many of the town’s windows dressed ready for the Christmas Lights Switch-on on Saturday. The whole town is feeling so festive.
“The entries are strong, and we were thrilled that Stephen and Claire were able to cast her expert eye over them. We would encourage visitors to come in and see the windows whilst enjoying Altrincham’s fabulous shops, restaurants, bars and cafes and experiences throughout the festive period.”
