Altrincham nightclub Totties has licence revoked after violent incidents

The venue lost its sex establishment licence last year.

Altrincham nightclub Totties has had its premises licence revoked following a series of violent incidents caught on CCTV outside the venue.

Trafford councillors were shown footage of multiple brawls on The Causeway, with at least two men knocked unconscious. One incident showed people taking nitrous oxide before large-scale fights broke out, while another captured a man retrieving a machete from his car before entering the club.

The incidents occurred in March, April and May this year, sometimes up to an hour after the club should have closed. Neill Courtney, from Trafford Council's Community Safety team, said several faces in the footage were "known in both acquisitive and organised criminality".

The venue, which lost its sex establishment licence last year, has struggled with serious incidents.

Less than 12 months ago, customer Rob Harris was left paralysed after being pushed down stairs by an intoxicated stranger, who was later sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Ben Moran, the council's Licensing Enforcement Officer, told the hearing that Totties had "failed in its duty" to prevent crime and disorder, with incidents occurring "almost every time the premises is open to the public".

Licence holder Jonathan Dodd's barrister suggested appointing a new designated premises supervisor and suspending the licence for one month, but councillors voted to revoke it entirely.

Council chair Sarah Haughey said they had no confidence the licensing objectives would be met, citing seven years of serious criminal issues.
