Altrincham businesses tasted success at the This Is Manchester Awards 2025, held at Lancashire County Cricket Club last week.

Fashion boutique and hair salon Underfound, founded by Andy Conway, won Business of the Year, while Great British Festivals, led by brothers Edward and Anthony Prophet, took home Leading Live Event of the Year for The Brit Fest.

The ceremony brought together hundreds of Greater Manchester's business and cultural leaders. Altrincham representatives included Conway, the Prophet brothers, ABC+ Warranty CEO Adele Reid, Altrincham FC Chairman Mark Luby and Rob Davenport, Partner at West Beverley.

"Winning Business of the Year in a room full of such extraordinary talent was incredible," Conway said.

"But what made it even more special was sharing the moment with other Altrincham businesses."

Reid said the awards recognised Altrincham as "a beacon for entrepreneurship and innovation in the North West".

The awards, sometimes referred to as the "Mancunian Oscars", have previously honoured Manchester figures including Pep Guardiola, Gary Neville, Lisa Stansfield, John Thomson and Tim Burgess.

Davenport attributed the town's success to collaboration between local businesses, the football club, hospitality venues and creative industries.

"This recognition shows how powerful that shared spirit has become," he said.
