The annual charity Santa Dash Bike Ride, which featured over 200 cycling Santas last year, will take place this Sunday.
Co-organised by Altrincham FC and The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT), all three of the routes will start and finish at the J.Davidson Stadium on Moss Lane.
There will be a 14-mile family friendly cycle route, a 30-mile moderate signed route, and a 60-mile tough circular route, starting at 11.30am, 11 am and 9 am respectively.
All of the routes will pass the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust in Millington where participants will be able to warm up with either a hot chocolate or mulled wine and a mince pie, before putting on the Santa costume for the last leg of the journey back to Altrincham.
Jure Modic, from CAFT, said: “On return, cycling Santa’s will be welcomed by the Santa himself dressed in red who will award them with a finisher medal before they enjoy a hearty lunch of hot pot with all the trimmings or hot dogs.
“There will also be a grotto and many other fun activities for your friends and family to enjoy so even if you are a non-cyclist, you can join our after-party between 1.30pm and 4.00pm.”
When the charity Santa Dash Ride started four years ago, there were only 30 riders but last year, 205 cycling Santas took to the roads with festive cheer.
The costs for this year’s event, covering items such as rider number, refreshments, Santa suits, finisher’s medal, and lunch, have been fully paid for by Jefferies Solicitors and Lease Car.
The £15 entry donation will go directly to the CAFT Christmas Programme which helps provide free Christmas parties to terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West.
